SUMMARY:Climbing for Beginners 4 sessions throughout FEBRUARY (Tuesdays)
DESCRIPTION:The club has arranged through our local climbing wall at Warwick University (Coventry) for a short “instructor led” course. This will include\n• 4 x one-hour sessions over four consecutive weeks in February (Tuesdays@ 7pm)\n• Suitable for all abilities\, Max of 8 on a 2:4 ratio\n• Learn the basics or develop new techniques\n• Tues 7pm –  and afterwards you can mingle with our own climbers if you so desire \nWhat you’ll learn\n• Basics of climbing safely including putting on a harness correctly\, performing pre-climbing checks and safe practice in the Bouldering Room\n• How to descend from a route correctly\n• To tie a rethreaded figure of 8 knot and stopper knot\n• Using a friction Belay device to be able to catch a falling climber \nWhat it’ll cost\nThe cost is £42 which includes use of the wall\, equipment\, showers etc. The follow up session in the spring in the Peak District is free and whilst our climbers may or may not be qualified\, they are happy to invest their time and share their knowledge and experience with you\nIf you join HMC afterwards it’s £30 which includes BMC affiliation\, and access to discount at many gear shops \nWhat you’ll get afterwards\nAll being well\, you will pass your competency test which will enable to use the wall thereafter unsupervised.\nAnd what next? You’ve been climbing at our local wall. You’ve done the course but you’ve no one to climb with on a regular basis either at the wall or on the rock…… Now’s the time to join the club!\nThe club will follow up these sessions in the spring with a free one day climbing at Stanage Edge in The Peak District with some of our own climbers and giving you the opportunity to meet other members of Hinckley Mountaineering Club\nSign up for the course and contact us via our Contact Form or visit our Facebook page\nEmail:  info@hinckleymc.org to express your interest.\nFirst come first served. SUMMARY:ALSTONEFIELD WEEKEND Peak District
DESCRIPTION:Despite the area being easy access for our usual Day-walks\, we never get to stay here – but we are now!\nBEDS: This 20 bed bunkhouse (not mixed) is a great place for any one new to the club and who wants to try a weekend away and explore the local area. There is a large lounge to relax in\, along with a dining area and self-catering kitchens. You’ll find comfy bedrooms with bunk lights and high standard bathrooms\nSTUFF you need to know: No sleeping bags are needed but take food for the weekend. Possibility of The HMC Catering Corp in action on Sat evening\, otherwise it’ll be s/c (or down to the local).\nCOST is £36 for the weekend\, plus grub.\nBEST PUB : The nearest pub is 200yds away – The George – serves good food and real ales but.… it ain’t cheap. Maybe try The Watts Russell down the lane.

DESCRIPTION:During the winter months a merry band of climbers can be found at our local wall from around 7-8 pm. If the weather is good over the winter\, they’ll maybe head up to the Peak District on a Sunday\, or for a change\, one of the other indoor walls in the area. SUMMARY:Daywalk Cotswolds - Bourton on the Water\, the Slaughters and Naunton
DESCRIPTION:Bourton-on-the-Water is a popular destination with gently flowing River Windrush running through the centre of the village and crossed by attractive little bridges. However\, Bourton can be really busy\, especially at weekends\, and car parks range from £8-£12\, so that’s why we’ll park on the Bourton Industrial Park\, Meadow Way GL54 2HQ for free! And its en route too for the path to The Slaughters and Naunton. This Cotswold Classic is about 10mls with potential for a pub stop.
