DESCRIPTION:Bwthyn Bach in Mid-Wales is a beautiful building with all sorts of interesting old architectural features. The sense of history is very much part of the atmosphere of the house and adds hugely to the experience of staying here. Wooden beams\, cobbled floors\, wattle and daub walls are visible and it has a central inglenook fireplace which provides a delightful\, cosy and sociable spot to spend the evening. (17 beds).\nWalkers will enjoy Trefeglwys\, with access to many trails through wooded valleys and along the banks of the Trannon. To the north (4 miles as the crow flies) a trio of lakes\, Llyn Tarw\, Llyn Du and Llyn Mawr offer leisurely walking and plentiful wildlife.\nTo the southwest (4 miles as the crow flies) is Llyn Clywedog Reservoir which some say is the most beautiful lake in Wales\, offering stunning scenery. There is an abundance of wildlife with Red Kites\, Buzzards\, Canada Geese\, Peregrine Falcons\, and Ospreys.\nNext door is The Red Lion.\nBook early to avoid disappointment.

SUMMARY:Climbing for Beginners "4 sessions" throughout MARCH (Tuesdays)
DESCRIPTION:The club has arranged through our local climbing wall at Warwick University (Coventry) for a short “instructor led” course. This will include\n• 4 x one-hour sessions over four consecutive weeks commencing 7th March (every Tuesday@ 7pm)\n• Suitable for all abilities\, Max of 8 on a 2:4 ratio\n• Learn the basics or develop new techniques\n• Tues 7pm –  and afterwards you can mingle with our own climbers if you so desire via our HMC Reps Nathan & Gianluca. Further follow up courses are also available should you wish to improve. \nWhat you’ll learn\n• Basics of climbing safely including putting on a harness correctly\, performing pre-climbing checks and safe practice in the Bouldering Room\n• How to descend from a route correctly\n• To tie a rethreaded figure of 8 knot and stopper knot\n• Using a friction Belay device to be able to catch a falling climber \nWhat it’ll cost\nThe cost is £42 which includes use of the wall\, equipment\, showers etc. Follow up sessions in the autumn in the Peak District is free and whilst our climbers may or may not be qualified\, they are happy to invest their time and share their knowledge and experience with you\nIf you join HMC afterwards it’s £30 which includes BMC affiliation\, and access to discount at many gear shops \nWhat you’ll get afterwards\nAll being well\, you will pass your competency test which will enable to use the wall thereafter unsupervised.\nAnd what next? You’ve been climbing at our local wall. Bring your own beer or wine (or tea) and don’t forget your other food for Fri/Sat and NO sleeping bag is necessary. \nSTUFF you need to know: These converted 17th-century farm buildings are set in lovely walled gardens with a stream running through. The mountains can be accessed directly from the gardens. \nWe have booked three cottages which are all linked internally\, the centre one being the biggest and with a large inglenook fireplace and group diner. \nBEST PUB : Britannia Inn\, is situated at the end of the drive. \nHOW TO BOOK: For security contact the Meets Booking Sec on info@hinckleymc.org . Bring your own beer or wine (free tea) and don’t forget your other food for Fri/Sat.\nSTUFF you need to know: A beautifully restored old barn converted to bunk house accommodation\, in a great location. Showers etc\, large lounge and splendid patio.\nBEST PUB Castle Coaching Inn is about a ten minute walk. It does good food and serves local ales. That’ll do it.
